Registration

3 is the maximum number of costumes which an individual school can enter into the competition.
Each group should contain no more than 6 people per costume.
Registration fees are non-refundable and are required per costume.
1 costume - €35 (stg £25)
2 costumes - €40 (stg £35)
3 costumes - €50 (stg £45)

Entry forms must be accompanied by the registration fee to be deemed official entries in the competition.
Entrants can register online but is provisional until the registration fee is received by Real Event Solutions.

 

 

 

Deadlines

In order for Real Event Solutions to run the competition as effectively as possible it is imperative that the following deadlines are adhered to. Failure to comply with these may result in disqualification.

1. Closing date for registration Friday October 8th 2004
It is essential that entries are received by this date as there is a cap on the number of places available.

2. Confirmation of Costume Numbers Friday
November 19th 2005

Each school must confirm how many costumes they will be bringing to the provincial qualifier. (3 is the maximum no. of costumes which each school can enter). Student and costume names are not required at this stage.

3. Official Entry Forms: Friday 14th January 2005
It is imperative that each entry form is received by Real Event Solutions by this date. Entrants must send back the original registration form (with colour photo) and 3 duplicate copies for adjudication purposes. Forms received after the official closing date may result in the costume not being eligible to attend the provincial heat. All forms must be accompanied by a colour photo of the costume (even if the costume is incomplete). Entry forms which are not accompanied by a clear photo of the costume will not eligible for adjudication.
RES will then have to take a Polaroid photo of the costume on the day of the provincial qualifier in order to facilitate the adjudication process at a cost of €3 per costume.

Any costume which fails to inform Real Event Solutions of their intention to drop out of the competition after Friday December 12th 2003 will be subject to a €25 cancellation fee. This sum is to cover the administration costs incurred during the processing of applications.

4. Provincial Heats: (January/February tbc)
Each entrant will be notified of the date and time of the qualifier in their province at least 3 weeks prior.

5. The All Ireland Final: (April/May 2005)
This year the final will be held in The Point Depot in Dublin.

RULES & REGULATIONS

The Provincial Heats
Schools are requested to arrive on time (at the time appropriated by Real Event Solutions) for their provincial heat. In unforeseen circumstances of delay Real Event Solutions must be notified immediately.
Real Event Solutions, all participating schools and audience members are guests of each venue and are asked to respect and adhere to in-house venue rules.
A nominal admission fee of €1 will be charged at the heats to all supporters (participants and their teachers are not subject to this charge).

The Costume

Each costume should contain an element of reusing waste materials. The use of certain materials/objects can be recycled i.e using them in an usual or different manner.
Costumes must be the student's own work, the teacher or Principal must corroborate this.
Costumes must be finished and entry forms sent by (tbc)
Dangerous or hazardous materials may not be used in the construction or performance of the costume so the safety of the students and others is not at risk. RES will, at their own discretion, decide as to what is deemed to be dangerous or hazardous.
Real Event Solutions must be informed of any unusual features or technological devices which are used in the costume.
All details of the costume make-up/construction must be included in the official registration form. If in doubt about any materials etc please consult with the Real Event Solutions team.
There are no specified dimensions which the costume should be made to but realistic, practical and functional considerations need to be incorporated into the design such as negotiating doorways and steps.
In general the costume should be able to fit through a double set of doors.
It is essential that safety is considered at every stage throughout the construction, transportation and stage performance of the costume.
Costumes are not allowed to be sponsored by brands/firms.
Each costume may contain up to two people within the structure, but the costume is still considered as one costume.

Performance onstage
Each costume is permitted to have a maximum of 3 support dancers onstage.
The performance must be 2 mins long and to music of the student's choice.
Extreme caution should be exercised by participating students at all times. They must at all times abide the guidance of the RES crew.
The safety of the audience members should never be in question as a direct result of the costume, props or the performance onstage i.e (swinging whips, chains, throwing objects into the audience)
Real Event Solutions reserve the right to make decisions regarding the costume, props and performance at any time during the Provincial heat . It is at the discretion of RES to judge whether or not any of the above pose a potential health and safety risk. In exceptional cases RES may not be able to allow the costume onstage if it is deemed to be a health and safety risk.
Props will be confiscated if thought to be a danger to the model, support dancers, audience members, RES crew, RES/Venue equipment.
As the Provincial Qualifiers are unrehearsed live shows backflips, somersaults, roller blading, Diablo throwing etc cannot be allowed for health and safety reasons. The final judgement regarding this will be held by the Real Event Solutions crew.

Music
All music must be on CD and clearly labelled. (It is not possible to play cassette tapes or mini discs at the provincial heats).
Music which could be deemed offensive is not permissible. It is at the discretion of RES whether "questionable" music may be played by the DJ at the provincial heats.

Backstage
A maximum of six students per costume will be permitted backstage at the provincial heats.
It is essential that each team abides by the instructions of Real Event Solutions crew at all times.
Under no circumstances will the use of aerosol spray paints be permitted in the Provincial Heats, either in the dressing rooms, outside the premises or in the main hall.
Each team are responsible for the clean-up of their own area.
Teams will be adjudicated on their conduct.

The All Island Final

Under no circumstances will the use of aerosols spray paints be permitted in the in the dressing rooms, outside the premises or in the main hall.
Drawings, sketches, photographs of the work in progress etc & should be retained. They will be needed for adjudication purposes and an accompanying exhibition, should they costume be chosen for the All Island Final.
1st, 2nd and 3rd Prize winners will receive a generous cash prize
and a specially commissioned trophy.
The All Island Final will be held in the Point Depot, Dublin in April/May 2005.

Adjudication

The Judges decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into
